Calgary Hitmen Fans Throw 25,214 Teddy Bears Onto Ice

The Calgary Hitmen's annual "Teddy Bear Toss" took place on Sunday after Radel Fazleev rattled one home off the post at 1:38 of the first period against the Moose Jaw Warriors on Sunday evening in Calgary. What happened next is an absoulute teddy bear blizzard! Fans littered the ice with fuzzy bears, which are then turned over to more than 60 local charities. It puts smiles on kid's faces, and, judging from the tweets below, the players have a pretty cracking time with it as well.

This year's effort, while mighty impressive, came up just short of the record of 25,921 which was set last year.

Here's another look at this veritable snowstorm of teddy bears, from a fan's perspective.

*Note: This tradition isn't only a Calgary tradition. On Saturday evening at Cornell, fans had a Teddy Bear Toss of their own after their loss to Denver. While their toss wasn't nearly as impressive, watching fans struggle to get that giant bear over the glass for nearly two minutes did make for some solid entertainiment.
