Catherine Silverman of the blog Todays Slapshot points out that its even more impressive that Stamkos has reached the 500-point mark so young -- he missed so many games with his knee injury in 2013-2014.
Via Elias: Only 4 active players - Crosby (369), Ovechkin (373), Malkin (413), Jagr (419)- hit 500 NHL points in fewer GP than Stamkos (495)— NHL Public Relations (@PR_NHL) October 12, 2015
Stamkos also becomes just the third player to register 500 points for the Tampa Bay franchise.
With 500 career NHL points, Steven Stamkos is now the youngest member of the 500 pt club- and that won't change soon http://t.co/pKKQF77C7s— Catherine Silverman (@CataCarryOn) October 12, 2015
Meanwhile Claude Julien's Bruins are looking to be in really bad shape at 0-3. They blew a two-goal lead at home and have been outscored by nine goals in their three games. Ouch. The Bruins are 0-3 for the eighth time in history, and the first time since '99.
Stamkos is 3rd player to register 500 points for @TBLightning franchise: Martin St. Louis (365-588—953) and Vincent Lecavalier (383-491—874)— NHL Public Relations (@PR_NHL) October 12, 2015
