Video: Canucks' Dorsett Rattles Holtby's Cage with Shoulder to Head

It happened so fast that it was hard to tell exactly why Capitals' goalie Braden Holtby's helmet fell off. Holtby has lost his helmet on a few other occasions this season (including this much-publicized play), and when the loss of his helmet caused a stoppage in play in the waning minutes on Thursday at GM Place, fans booed, thinking it was a ploy to delay play, and broadcasters moaned that goalies need to start wearing chinstraps.

Then we got this slo-mo replay from the perfect angle. What really happened is Derek Dorsett gave Holtby a nice square shoulder to the head. Maybe Dorsett didn't mean it. Maybe he did. We'll never know. Either way, the NHL should take a look at this play.

Holtby, seeing stars, would finish off the game, won by Washington, 3-2.
