Arvidsson Won't Be Suspended for Cross-Checking Incident

Predators' winger Viktor Arvidsson was given a major and a game misconduct for the above cross-check on Sabres' defenseman Carlo Colaiacovo, but it appears that Arvidsson will escape further discipline.

According to John Vogl of the Buffalo News, Colaiacova has been released from the Nashville hospital where he was treated with a "dented trachea" and joined his team for its Sunday morning flight to Detroit.

Though the hit looked pretty brutal on replay, Sabres coach Dan Bylsma said he didn't feel that Arvidsson's actions were malicious.

“I don’t think there was intent there to maliciously cross-check,” Bylsma said, according to Vogl. “They kind of lose the puck, turn and his stick is right at that level and delivers a blow. When you look at it, it’s a pretty stiff cross-check to Carlo’s neck.”

According to Vogl, the NHL any further discipline for Arvidsson is unlikely.
