Bad Goalie: Stepan's Floater Beats Bernier from Center Ice

It's hard enough beating the New York Rangers with great goaltending, but softies like this are making it even harder for the 5-8-4 Toronto Maple Leafs in York on Sunday night. Jonathan Bernier has stopped 23 of 26 Blueshirts shots thus far, but we're thinking he'd like to have this one back. Ya think?

Goals like the one below (see video) haven't helped, either. Just ask water bottle-throwing Mike Babcock about that.

Charity aside, the Leafs are hanging in with the Rangers midway through the final period, tied at 3-3 on the strength of a Dion Phaneuf slapper at 5:15 of the third.

The red-hot Rangers are seeking their ninth consecutive win.

Update: The Rangers have now won nine straight as Mats Zuccarello's goal wins it late in the third for the Blueshirts. Toronto drops to 5-9-4, while the Rangers now lead the NHL with 30 points (14-2-2).
