Burrows Doesn't Think Line Was Crossed in Tootoo Incident

We still don't know what exactly Canucks' winger Alexandre Burrows said to Jordin Tootoo during the Devils' 4-3 OT win on Sunday in New Jersey, but we do know that Tootoo and Burrows disagree vehemently about those words.

On Sunday the Devils right wing went hunting for Burrows on the ice, and when Burrows wouldn't accept his invitation to drop gloves, Tootoo took to the media to voice his disapproval.

"If you're going to talk the talk, you've got to walk the walk. To make the remarks he did about my personal life and family is classless and unacceptable in this day and age," Tootoo said. "That's why I went after him."

Burrows spoke with Vancouver media today about the incident (he was unavailable by the time Devils' reporter Tom Gulliti went to the Canucks' dressing room to ask about what he said), saying that he didn't step out of line.

"I don't think I crossed the line" said Burrows, according to Vancouver's Twitter feed. "I've said and heard it before, it should have stayed on the ice. It's a battle out there"
