Jets' Byfuglien to have Player Safety Hearing
Dustin Byfuglien will have a hearing with the NHL's Department of Player Safety for the above elbow to the head on Montreal's Brendan Gallagher. It happens pretty fast in real-time but the second replay shows that big Buff got some of Gallagher's head. That's a no-no, and could result in a suspension. Byfuglien was given a minor for elbowing on the play, and Gallagher remained in the game. The Jets' defenseman was suspended for the first time, after incurring three fines, last April for a cross-checking incident on Rangers' forward J.T. Miller. Perhaps the NHL would like to bring up this play at the hearing as well? This one happened in the waning moments of the Jets 5-4 win over Minnesota last week. No hearing was given. Byfuglien received two for boarding on the play.
