Video: Saad Catches Lehtera in Throat with Dangerous High-Stick

The Blues lost forward Jori Lehtera in the first period after the Finn took this inadvertent but vicious high-stick from Brandon Saad to the throat in the first period. Lehtera left the game and did not return. He was taken to a local hospital.

The Blues went on to drop a 3-1 decision to the surging Blue Jackets in Columbus.

No penalty as given to Saad on the play. No update was given on Lehtera's condition by the Blues after the game.

The Blue Jackets started the season 0-7 under Todd Richard but have since gone 7-5 after John Tortorella took over as coach.

"They work hard, they forecheck," said Blues' defenseman Jay Bouwmeester. "That's what they do. They don't want to give you any time to make plays or any easy ice. We knew that coming in. To counter that [we] have to do that. You have to dump it in, go get it and make them play in their own end and we didn't do that tonight.
