Kings File Request to Have Muzzin's Match Penalty Rescinded



According to L.A. Kings insider Jon Rosen, the Kings are appealing to have Jake Muzzin's match penalty from Saturday night's OT win over the Coyotes rescinded.

The penalty (see Muzzin's hit on Boyd Gordon in video above), which happened at 13:20 of the third period, led to a five-minute major and a game misconduct for Muzzin. Arizona netted two quick goals in the ensuing power play to level the game and force overtime.

According to Rosen, here's what Sutter saw on the play:

"Muzz’s ass on Boyd’s face. It was a hockey play. It’s not even a penalty. They had their arms up the whole night. It was all penalties. All special teams."


Coyotes coach Dave Tippett had his own take on the play. “It looked pretty nasty,” he said.
