Panthers Match Franchise-Best Win Streak with Win over Tailspinning Habs

Jaromir Jagr scored his 11th goal of the season and Aleksander Barkov added a pair to power the Florida Panthers to a 3-1 lead over the Montreal Canadiens at BB&T Center on Tuesday night.

The Panthers seventh straight win matches the franchise record, which has been achieved three times previously.

The last times the Panthers won seven straight was in 2008. The Panthers have gone 11-3-0 in December to set the franchise record for points in a single month as well.

With the victory the Panthers leapfrog the Canadiens and move back into first place in the Atlantic division with 46 points (21-12-4). They lead the Habs by a point but have two games in hand. Montreal has gone 2-8-0 in their last ten games.

It's been a rough stretch for Montreal. They held a ten-point lead on the Atlantic Division on December 1st. But at least they are still sticking up for themselves (see P.K. Subban's fight below).

But that pugnaciousness hasn't kept Montreal from losing more games in December (11) then they have ever lost in any other month in history:
