Sharks' Couture Likely to Return Tuesday in Calgary

The San Jose Sharks are set to get a big boost when 26-year-old center Logan Couture returns to action. He was activated off of IR on Monday and should be in the lineup on Tuesday when the Sharks meet the Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome. The Guelph, Ontario native fractured his right fibula in practice on October 15 and has missed the past 23 games.

"I hope [to play]. You'll have to ask [coach] Pete [DeBoer]," Couture told the Sharks website after practice Monday, according to NHL.com. "I've told him I feel ready to go, well see what the lineup is tomorrow. I've been dying to get back in for the last little while. It's not easy just watching. It's not easy just practicing."

Couture, a two-time 30-goal scorer, had a career-best 40 assists and 67 points last season.

The Sharks will be without defenseman Marc-Edouard Vlasic on Tuesday due to a lower body injury. He did not make the trip to Calgary and will likely miss San Jose's wednesday night tilt in Edmonton as well.

Here's head coach Peter DeBoer's take on Couture and Vlasic:
