Panthers Smoke Buffalo for 10th Straight Win

If somebody asked you a month ago which team would be the first to win ten consecutive games in the 2015-2016 NHL season, what would you have answered? Montreal? Dallas? The Caps?

One thing we know for sure: You wouldn't have picked the Florida Panthers.

What a difference a month makes. The Panthers walloped the Sabres, 5-1 on Thursday and became the only NHL team to win ten straight games this season.

During the game, Jaromir Jagr added his 14th goal of the season to pull within five of Brett Hull for third on the NHL's all-time goal scoring list.

"You could say it's hard to believe at 43 he's playing that great but knowing him it's not hard to believe," Panthers winger Jonathan Huberdeau said of Jagr . "His work ethic is incredible. We're just lucky to have him around us."

Panthers goalie Roberto Luongo tied his own personal win streak at eight with the win. The Panthers have allowed only 12 goals during their franchise-best win streak.

They'll attempt to push the streak to 11 when they face Ottawa at the Canadian Tire Center on Thursday.

The Panthers currently sit atop the Atlantic Division, five points ahead of second place Detroit and Montreal. It's a far cry from where they were before the streak started. Prior to the start of their streak on December 15, the Panthers were 14-12-4 and in sixth place, 11 points behind first-place Montreal.
