According to Chris Peters of CBS Eye on Hockey, the Blackhawks would be working with about $3.9 million of cap space if they wished to pursue any deals before the deadline.
If assigned to AHL, Scuderi will be a $1.3M annual buried cap hit, $950,000 annual savings. #Pens retained $1.125M is unaffected.— General Fanager (@generalfanager) February 16, 2016

Blackhawks Waive Defenseman Scuderi
The Chicago Blackhawks have waived veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi. The 37-year-old played just 17 games after Chicago acquired him in a trade with the Penguins. He was a minus-6 with zero points for the Hawks in his seventeen games and was a healthy scratch for the last two games. If the defenseman is picked up by another team it would clear about $2.25 million of cap space for Chicago. And even if he is sent to the AHL, there would be cap relief.
