Blackhawks Waive Defenseman Scuderi

The Chicago Blackhawks have waived veteran defenseman Rob Scuderi. The 37-year-old played just 17 games after Chicago acquired him in a trade with the Penguins. He was a minus-6 with zero points for the Hawks in his seventeen games and was a healthy scratch for the last two games.

If the defenseman is picked up by another team it would clear about $2.25 million of cap space for Chicago. And even if he is sent to the AHL, there would be cap relief.

According to Chris Peters of CBS Eye on Hockey, the Blackhawks would be working with about $3.9 million of cap space if they wished to pursue any deals before the deadline.
