Connor McDavid Tosses in First Career Five-Pointer



Connor McDavid electrified the crowd at Rexall Place by turning on the jets to score the first goal of the game tonight against the Toronto Maple Leafs. And that was just the beginning.

The 19-year-old sensation had a hand in four more Edmonton goals and finished with two goals and three assists for his first five-point night to lead the Oil to an energizing 5-2 victory over Toronto.

Since returning from a broken clavicle on February 2nd, McDavid has notched 12 points in six games. That's not just tops among rookies in that span--it's tied for tops in the NHL with Sidney Crosby.

This tweet below might be a bit humorous, but on nights like this, it makes one wonder:


McDavid, who has 9 goals and 15 assists in 24 games, is now 9th in rookie scoring. It doesn't sound that impressive but when one takes into account that he's the only player averaging more than a point per game--it is.

He's currently second in points per game in the whole NHL, behind only Patrick Kane.
