Komarov Suspended for Three Games by NHL

Toronto forward Leo Komarov has been suspended three games for his hit on New York Rangers defenseman Ryan McDonagh Thursday night in Toronto.

This is Komarov's first suspension.

Here's how the NHL explained its decision: Komarov "deliberately extends his elbow out and into the head of McDonagh," the NHL's Department of Player safety says in the video. "He has ample time to take a good angle of approach and deliver this hit in a legal fashion."

McDonagh left the game after the first period and did not return. He had just returned from a four-game absence due to a concussion on Wednesday in New York.
