Marc Staal would love to have brother Eric come to New York
New York Rangers' defenseman Marc Staal would love to have his brother Eric come visit him in the big apple. And if Eric stayed a while, well that would be okay, too. Eric is set to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season, but the Carolina Hurricanes are still in the hunt for a playoff spot as the NHL trading deadline looms on Monday. That fact, and the fact that the career Hurricane would have to waive a no-trade clause to be moved, hasn't stopped the rumor mill from heating up. The general consensus is that Eric and the Rangers would be a great fit, but damn if the Hurricanes recent success hasn't thrown a wrench in the move Eric Staal plans. That said, Marc says it'd be "cool" to chase the cup with his older brother. "It's obviously something that I'd absolutely like to [do]," Marc told Northjersey.com on Friday. "It would be very cool. It would be a nice change of pace from playing against those two." The youngest of the Staal brothers, Jordan, currently playing alongide Eric in Carolina, says not so fast. "Those are the rumors, obviously," he said, according to NHL.com. Whether that happens or not, it'd be pretty neat to see them playing together as well. I don't really know what's going to happen. Brothers stealing brothers is not what I want to see, but at the end of the day, if that's the way it works out, that's the way it works out. To play alongside your brother and battle for two points every night, you pinch yourself every once in a while. It's been really cool."
