Mike Yeo Fired as Wild Losing Streak Continues

The Minnesota Wild have fired their head coach Mike Yeo, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.

The coach was given a vote of confidence last week, but as the team's struggles continued, Wild management shifted gears and ended Yeo's tenure.

The news comes after the Wild fell to the Bruins, 4-2, on Saturday. The team has lost eight in a row (0-6-2) and eight in a row at home (0-5-3), and they've won just once in their last fourteen games (1-11-2).

The Wild were 20-10-6 on January 1st, but have since slipped 23-22-10. Still, they're only three points out of a Wild Card spot in the Western Conference.

According to Mike Russo of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, Yeo was 173-132-44 in parts of five seasons with the Wild. He was the league’s fifth-most tenured coach.
