Watch: Coach Quenneville Goes Nuts After Blackhawks Lose Challenge
Blackhawks coach Joel Quenneville nearly swallowed his double-mint after this coaches challenge went against his team (see video above), disallowing what would have been a Marian Hossa goal. Coach Q is seen livid on the bench, and the commentators make note of the fact that he steps in front of his players to jaw at the referee Marc Joanette. Eventually the craziness moved from the bench to the ice where the Blackhawks and Coyotes got tangled in another high-scoring, old-school Western Conference shootout (remember the good old days?), and Jonathan Toews scored the game winner in OT to give Chicago a 5-4 win. Things turned out well for Hossa as well. He managed to score Chicago's first goal (after the 'Yotes officially opened the scoring on an Oliver Ekman-Larsson goal), and assisted on Toews' first of two in the game. But the one Hossa lost left a bad taste in his mouth. Here's what he had to say about the lost challenge after the game: its league-leading 9th OT decision, and still leads Dallas by three points in the Central Division standings.
