Watch: Mason Commits Epic Playoff Gaffe on Chimera Goal

During a 1-0 game at the Verizon Center in Washington, Flyers goaltender Steve Mason was holding down the fort nicely. The only goal the Caps had managed half way through the game was a seeing-eye wrister from the point by John Carlson on the power player. The Flyers were where they needed to be. Stable. Gritty. Tight.

An then, this happened.

Possibly the worst goall allowed in NHL playoff history? Could be.

All history will tennis, 100 years from now, is Chimera from Alzner and Niskanen at 2:26.

But the video above tells a far different story.

Hopefully, for the sake of this being a competitive series, Steve Mason can put this behind him and act like it never happened.
