Video: Letang Takes Vicious Swipe at Stalberg's Face

It's a wonder that Pittsburgh's Kris Letang was still around to score an empty-net goal to seal the Penguins 3-1 victory over the Rangers on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden, because the defenseman very easily could have been tossed out of the game for this egregious high-stick on Rangers' forward Viktor Stalberg.

There was no penalty call on the play either, and Stalberg lost multiple teeth, according to Justin Tasch of the N.Y. Daily News.

Players are expected to control their stick whether or not they intend to inflict harm on another player, so it's a pretty big head-scratcher that this call was missed. Maybe the referee was watching in disbelief and swallowed his whistle inadvertently?

Some are alread hinting that a suspension from the Department of Player Safety would be a good call.

Will it happen?
