Reportedly it is Pulkkinen's lack of footspeed that has NHL GMs shying away from him.
Over a 70-game NHL career, Pulkkinen has been *exactly* as likely to score a goal in any minute of 5v5 play as Evander Kane or Jeff Carter.— Jonathan Willis (@JonathanWillis) October 11, 2016
McKenzie/Pulkkinen: "I think there are a number of teams that I've talked to that did express concern over the foot speed." #RedWings 1040— Chris Nichols (@NicholsOnHockey) October 11, 2016
In today's NHL the mantra is get faster or die trying, and Pulkkinen, despite his booming shot and great success at the AHL level and in brief NHL stints, isn't a no-brainer to many GMs.
McKenzie/Pulkkinen: Book is tremendous goal scorer in minors w/ trmends shot. Maybe doesn't get there quick enough to be constant NHL threat— Chris Nichols (@NicholsOnHockey) October 11, 2016
