The Islanders will be without defenseman Travis Hamonic for 4-6 weeks. The 26-year-old sustained an upper body injury while blocking a shot off the stick of Oilers' forward Patrick Maroon.

Hamonic left the game and did not return after blocking a wrist shot with his right arm during the first period of New York's 4-3 shootout loss to Edmonton. The Islanders have already lost defenseman Ryan Pulock to a broken foot earlier this season. They will reportedly call up Adam Pelech from Bridgeport for Monday's game against the Canucks in Brooklyn.

Hamonic, who has been on the Isles top pair with Nick Leddy all season, has gone 2-3-5 and is a minus-7 for the Isles in 12 games this season. He has a 43.1 Corsi and a Corsi REL of -4.0.
