Red-hot Cam Ward guided the Carolina Hurricanes past the Maple Leafs, 2-1, on Tuesday night at Air Canada Center in Toronto. Ward has won his last five starts and the Canes (8-6-4) leapfrogged the Leafs in the standings with the win. Carolina has now killed 22 straight penalties in their last ten games. Ward improved to 6-1-2 in November. The 32-year-old is in the first year of a two-year, $6.6 million deal with the Canes. His current 2.27 goals against average projects out to a career-high for the 12-year veteran.
