Mike Hoffman Gets Two-Game Suspension for Crosscheck on Couture

Senators' Mike Hoffman was handed a two-game suspension for his crosscheck to the back of Logan Couture's head on Wednesday night in Ottawa.

Many felt that Hoffman should have been given a stiffer penalty, but the NHL Department of Player Safety bought Hoffman's explanation that his stick rode up the stick of Brenden Dillon slightly, which led to Hoffman hitting Couture in the head rather than the upper back.

It's not a great excuse in our opinion.

This is Hoffman's first suspension, which also worked in his favor.
