Red Wings lose Jimmy Howard to injury after collison vs. Bolts

Jimmy Howard has been the Red Wings best goalie this season. But he might be sitting for a while.

Howard, who is 5-7-1 with a 1.96 GAA and a .934 save percentage, was injured in a goalmouth collison that probably could have been avoided if his defensemen Nick Jensen was a little more careful.

Jensen barrels in to removed Tampa's Erik Condra from the crease and both players tumbled to the ice, landing on Howard.

Howard was helped off the ice and could not put weight on his right leg, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.

Jensen was filling in for injured Mike Green.

The Wings drop 14-15-4 and are now three points behind the Lightning after falling 4-1.

Lightning goalie Ben Bishop was also injured in the game.
