Mueller Sent from Game after Sharks Lineup Gaffe

The coaches blew it, Mirco Mueller had to pay, and Joe Thornton cracked up. That's the story, in a nutshell of what happened on the Sharks bench during Calgary's 3-2 victory over the Sharks at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday. Let the video roll through with the sound up to see Thornton's reaction because it really is classic Jumbo.

Here's how Sharks' head coach Peter DeBoer explained the situation, thanks to Curtis Pashelka of the San Jose Mercury News:

“That’s on us, the coaches,” DeBoer said. “We have some checks and balances on our lineup. We went into warmup and we felt Marty could play and there was some last minute movement there, obviously. He didn’t play and just got left out. “I feel badly. I apologized to Mirco. It’s not a good spot to put him in, but I thought the other guys did a good job.”
