Ben Bishop Set to Make Return vs. Sabres on Thursday
The Lighntning will get Ben Bishop back in a time of need on Thursday night. Bishop, out since Dec. 20 when he suffered a lower body injury against the Wings, will try to guide the struggling Lightning back to winning ways as they meet the Sabres tonight at Amalie Arena. Tampa comes in at 19-19-4 on a four game losing streak. That's not good enough for a team that was picked by many to win the Eastern Conference this preseason. Since Bishop went on the IR, the Bolts have allowed an NHL-worst 35 goals in nine games, going 3-5-1 in that span. Andrei Vasilevskiy, who signed a three-year deal this summer, has not been in top form. Since Bishop went down the 22-year-old Russian has only managed a .876 save percentage and a 3.78 GAA in nine games. His full body of work is less scary (.904 save percentage and 2.97 GAA), but clearly the beleaguered Lightning can use some help from Bishop. They are currently four points behind Ottawa for third place in the Atlantic, but the Sens have three games in hand.
