Carey Price Saves the 'Habs Bacon vs. Rangers
If there was ever something that could light a fire under the Montreal Canadiens it is this type of heroic save by their leader and star goaltender Carey Price. Price robbed J.T. Miller in the waning seconds of overtime at Madison Square Garden on Tuesday night and the Canadiens rebounded to notch a much-needed shootout win when Paul Byron scored in the 10th frame of the shooutout. The victory was a statement for Price, who has struggled of late, going 7-10-1 with a 2.98 GAA since Janaury 1st, as much as it was for the Canadiens, who desperately need to pick up some confidence after a rough stretch of play has put them within striking distance of Ottawa as they barely cling to the top spot in the Atlantic. Montreal improves to 32-20-8 with the win and jumps two points ahead of the Senators in the standings. Ottawa also picked up two points on Tuesday with a 2-1 win over the Devils. The Canadiens improve to 1-1 under new head coach Claude Julien but they've got their work cut out for them as Ottawa has two games in hand and Montreal has gone 3-6-1 in its last ten.
