Capitals Defense Will Be without Alzner for Game 4

The Washington Capitals have announced the defenseman Karl Alzner will miss Game 4 of the Capitals-Maple Leafs series, to be played on Wednesday night in Toronto. Alzner saw his streak of 599 consecutive games (playoffs and regular season) end on Monday when he missed game three. Alzner's streak of 540 consecutive regular-season games is the fifth-longest active streak in the NHL.

He has been replaced by Nate Schmidt, who paired with John Carlson in Game 3. Schmidt was a minus-4 Corsi and a plus-1 in Washington's 4-3 loss on Monday. He logged 16:29 of ice time.
